SUN 73 TAI CHI - MONDAY 10:30 a.m.

On Monday mornings, our Tai Chi teacher, Diane Greenberg, is teaching a form called SUN 73 FORMS TAI CHI.  Sun 73 is the mother form of Tai Chi for arthritis and is more challenging.  This form takes longer to learn because it is longer in length and has more complicated movements.  Diane can teach this form with modified techniques for jumps, kicks and spins.    Diane states that "modifications conducive for both beginners and seniors will be taught."

YANG STYLE 24 FORM TAI CHI - FRIDAY, 10:00 a.m.

Gwen DeVercelly teaches YANG STYLE 24 FORM.  Tai Chi is a Chinese system of slow meditative physical exercises designed for relaxation and balance.Learning to do them correctly provides a practical avenue for improving such things as balance, alignment, focus and coordination. Many people use Tai Chi daily as a way to de-stress. Because it is a fun way to exercise, it doesn't feel like exercise and let's face it, we need to move to prevent problems. Tai Chi is a gentle way to move. Gwen also integrates Qigong and meditation into her classes to promote the flow of energy within the body. Anyone with an open mind and the desire for tranquility and healing can learn this ancient art.  All levels welcome!

Chi Gong

THURSDAY, 6:00 p.m.   Qi Gong (Chi Gong) is typically described as exercises for health and well-being. Simplified, Qi is considered your energy, Gong is more like ingredients, i.e., hands, arms, feet, legs, heart, lungs, liver - whatever makes us function.  Movement typically corresponds to a particular organ or system such as skeletal, muscular, circulatory, to name a few. There are many sets of exercises; typically taught are the Tai Chi Chi Gong 18 Movements and/or 8 Pieces of the Brocade. Class usually ends with a 5- to 10-minute meditation that is associated with practice.
