We collect nonperishable food items and toiletries in the basket in our Fellowship lobby. You can join the list of volunteers who periodically empty the basket and deliver the items to the Our Daily Bread food pantry in Setauket or to The Ministries food pantry in Coram.
A team of volunteers from our Fellowship serves lunch to needy community members on the second Sunday of each month. We are a part of the Welcome INN - the Port Jefferson branch of the Long Island Interfaith Nutrition Network (http://www.the-inn.org). A team of 5 or 6 UUFSB volunteers cook, serve, and clean up after the meal at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Port Jefferson. It involves a time commitment from 12 noon to about 2:00 p.m. for the volunteers. Since we started participating in the program at the start of 2010, we've had about 20 different volunteers working at the meals. We would love to have you join that list, even if you can only participate on an occasional basis. Please e-mail John or Tom if you are interested. We maintain an online signup sheet at http://www.my.calendars.net/fellowshipvols. John or Tom can give you login info.
