SHELTER ISLAND ANNUAL RETREAT AT CAMP QUINIPET

Friday Afternoon, September 26 to Sunday noon, September 28, 2008

The Fellowship has reserved Asbury House at Camp Quinipet on Shelter Island for the third weekend in September.
The cost per BED (assuming all 25 beds are filled) is $60. Additional cost for food is still undecided.

  • Come and join us for a fun-filled weekend.
  • This is a great opportunity to relax and enjoy time with family and Fellowship friends in a beautiful setting during a beautiful month of the year.
  • The retreat can be as strenuous (hiking, bird watching, GPS 'treasure hunt') or as relaxed (reading, games, jigsaw puzzles, napping) as you like.
  • There is usually a bonfire on Saturday night and a hike at Mashomack preserve on Saturday.
  • In the past, when the minister has attended the retreat, there was a short service on Sunday morning (maybe that will be possible this September?)
  • Asbury house sleeps 25 people in 10 rooms.
  • There are 5 rooms with 3 beds (1 single and 1 bunk) in them and 5 rooms with 2 beds (2 singles) in them
  • Here's the Asbury floor plan for downstairs and upstairs
  • Since all the rooms are reserved in advance, you can arrive late on Friday and still have the room(s) that you reserved.
  • A 'bunk' sleeps two people, a 'single' is one person.
  • We have Asbury House rental for ALL DAY Friday through ALL DAY Sunday, so if you can get Friday off, you can start the retreat early and you can stay late on Sunday if you wish.

Asbury House at Camp Quinipet

We'll be staying in Asbury House: Asbury is one of the Camp Quinipet historical houses dating back to 1882. There are 10 semiprivate rooms and three and a half bathrooms in the hall. There are accommodations for 25 people. The view of the bay is by far the best from Asbury. Two of the three decks overlook the Peconic Bay. After an afternoon outside, warm up in front of the large fireplace. Asbury has a well-equipped kitchen. Comfortable twin beds are provided with a pillow and blanket. Please bring your own sheets and towels.
